My role ✨ Art Director
Made with ⚡ Ufomammoot for 🚚 BSR 2020
📖 Overview
BSR, or Berliner Stadtreinigung keeps the city of Berlin clean. For the year 2020, they decided to create a project featuring some futuristic ideas on how Berlin would improve by 2030 (trashcans which would be able to go where they need to be autonomously…). The project has 3 touch tables displaying each 3D scene representing Berlin in 2020 and 2030.
🎨 Look & feel
Since this project wanted to show a green high-tech future, the 3D representation of Berlin in 2030 has a lot of wind turbines, solar panels, and trees. Once the 3D scenes were built, we realized that simply adding more of those elements was not enough to make the switch obvious, between the 2 time periods, so I reinforced the contrast by making the greenery darker, in the future and the roads white.
👩🎨 My role
For this project, I created the design for the interface, displaying information about BSR. I also worked on the UX, making the interaction with the touch tables as easy and intuitive as possible. For the 3D, I participated on the creation of 3D models, arranging them in the scene and created the concept for the animations.
🫶 Teamwork
I was in charge of organizing the workflow, deciding what should be done next, and instructing the 3D artist and the programmers on what they should do.
🔥 Challenges
This project was a fascinating exercise for UX design since it was the first time I worked with an interactive table. There's a lot more research to do while using rare mediums like this one and new elements to take into account (how many users can be on the table at the same time, do they have enough space...).
Unfortunately, this project was never released since the event it was made for was canceled due to COVID-19.
